    How To Prevent Dental Emergencies

    • Oral Health Care appointments every 6 months
    • Avoid opening bottles with teeth and putting foreign objects in your mouth
    • Wear a mouthguard during contact sport
    • For children eligible use your Child Dental Benefit Scheme allocation

Keeping up with your 6 monthly Oral Health appointments which include a check-up and clean, means that any underlying issues such as cracked teeth, tooth decay, and gum disease can be diagnosed using our state-of-the-art technology and corrected so that you do not require urgent dental care.

We do understand that some dental emergencies are not predictable, such as a broken tooth from eating nuts, a sports incident, or an abscess from an old injured tooth that has simply flared up.

Common Questions About Emergency Dental Appointments

    • How soon can I be seen as an emergency if I am in severe pain?
    • Will I get my tooth fixed in my emergency dental appointment?
    • Will it cost me more to see the dentist if I book in as an emergency appointment?

Emergencies are unpredictable and usually occur at the most inconvenient time impacting work and family plans. Our team allocate time for dental emergency appointments each day and are committed to getting you out of pain as quickly as possible. Upon booking your appointment, our administration team will triage your concern and allocate the appropriate time that will be necessary to get you out of pain and fix your teeth.

Having an emergency appointment does not necessarily mean your treatment costs more by having the same treatment on any other given day.

The reality is that preventing the emergency to begin with is preferable and can save you money, for example, a small area of decay on a tooth can be fixed with a basic filling and diagnosed in your Oral Health Care appointment. But if left undetected the decay can become more extensive, may infect the nerve of the tooth, and turn into either a costly Root Canal Treatment or even require a tooth extraction.

At The Good Dentist as part of our commitment to your dental health, every time you attend for a check-up we use an iTero 5D Digital scanner screening you in the detection of early decay to decrease the need for more extensive interventions.
