Laura Williams, Dental Assistant

Hi, my name is Laura and I’ve worked in dental for 4 years now. I started working in dental when I was just 16 years old. I grew up locally and will take any opportunity to be out and about with friends. I love how rewarding my job is, there is nothing better than seeing patients leave the clinic feeling good in their skin. I do my best to connect with patients and build positive relationships. During my time in healthcare I’ve learnt that acts of service are better served with a smile.

Quick Q&A With Laura Williams, Dental Assistant

What is the most satisfying part of the job?
Patient comfort is extremely important to me. Knowing I’ve helped change an individual’s perspective about coming to the dentist is a massive win. We really do want the best for our patients. If I can make others feel comfortable, I know I’ve done a good job.

What are the challenges?
Trying not to buy all the yummy food on Darby street :(

What’s your best tip for oral hygiene?
Keep your floss in the shower!

What toothbrush do you use?
A manual soft bristle toothbrush.

How do you create a calm environment for patients who are nervous?
Be friendly and accommodating, let patients feel their feelings. It’s easy to get lost in negative emotions if it’s not released. I will always offer a hand to hold :)

If you didn’t work in a dental clinic, what would you do?
I love the healthcare industry, I’m currently studying to be a registered nurse.

Cat or Dog?
Dog 100%

Sweet or Savoury?
Can never go wrong with a cheeky sweet treat.

Go to karaoke song?
I’m a believer – Smash mouth.

Favourite way to relax?
Good food by the beach with friends.

Bucket list item?
See the Northern lights.

What makes you smile?
Kindness! Seeing others be good to one another.
